Keum boo Pendant & Earrings

Saturday - November 10 (10:30-4:30)

| $179 (+GST) Register

Learn the ancient Korean technique of Keum-Boo while making a stunning Pendant & Earring Set in Sterling Silver with Gold Leaf.

Keum-boo (also Kum-Boo or Kum-bu) is Korean for “attached gold”.  This is an ancient Korean gilding technique used to apply thin sheets of gold to silver, to make silver-gilt.

This class is taught by Kelly Allanson (see Instructor’s bio).

The feature picture shown is a pendant and earring set made by Kelly Allanson.  Students in this class will have design choices regarding the shape of their pendant and earrings, and gold leaf patterning (see student’s work below).  Students will be provided with the sterling silver and gold leaf to make ONE pendant and ONE set of earrings with sterling ear wire.  Also included is the use of all tools and equipment.

The Chain for the pendant is not included, but Workingsilver has a great selection of chains available for sale.

Wear comfortable “work” clothes, with full shoes, all hair tied back, and no scarves or sleeves that could present a hazard.

Car: FREE off street parking for students

Walking:  5 minute walk from the Sapperton Skytrain station.

These Keum Boo pieces were made by students in this class.
